Sunday 29 August 2011 - Hurricane Irene According to the latest forecasts, the eye of Hurricane Irene is expected to pass over our area tomorrow morning, meaning that the worst of the storm will be during our normal time for the Divine Liturgy. Our policy in the past has been that in case of inclement weather, if I can make it to church at all, we will serve Liturgy. However, in view of the fact that the storm is expected to be accompanied by several hours of torrential rain and strong winds, we anticipate fallen tree limbs and power lines, making travel impossible. I live three miles from the church, and when there is heavy rain both railway underpasses between my house and the church flood. Furthermore, the highways, I-95 and the Merritt Parkway will be closed, and the Town of Stratford will have a parking ban effective 5 pm this afternoon. - Fr George In view of the above: - The Vigil for the Feast of the Dormition (Falling Asleep) of the Mother of God will be moved up from 6:30 today to 3 pm.
- We will NOT serve the Divine Liturgy tomorrow morning for the Feast. We ask our parishioners to remain home or in a safe shelter.
- As announced before, the Altar Boy Workshop that was scheduled for tomorrow is postponed to a time to be announced.
- Please set aside some time at home to mark the day with prayer and Scripture Reading.
